Someone to Listen
When you have something important on your heart, isn’t it nice to have someone who will truly listen? That’s how The Lord is. He is always available, 24-7. And He really cares about what’s on our hearts. I love that about Him!
Recently, as I wrestled with a burden for someone I love, it felt so nice to close my eyes, look into the face of Jesus and share my heart. In His face, I could sense the love of the LORD and the communal response of the Trinity saying, “I hear you. I am listening, and I am fully present to the request of your heart.” It was such a comfort to rest in the promise that my God hears me, He cares and He is working in His perfect way toward the needs I expressed.
What Will We Allow
Knowing God hears us and is powerful enough to remedy broken situations frees us up to move on in peace and wholeness. But, we must allow it to free us. We must linger long enough in His loving presence to allow His Spirit to penetrate our hearts and lift the burden from us. And we must allow Him to take the burden.
His Word Is Clear. He cares, He is listening and He is able to do exceedingly above all we ask or imagine. When we allow His promises and His loving presence to meet us in our stories, we are comforted, healed and strengthened to live in the victory while life remains messy.
Let’s not allow worry to override God’s precious promises and the loving gaze of our Savior. He is with us and He hears us. Let us honor Him by choosing to rest in His love and His power to answer our prayers.
Gracious Lord, you know my heart. Thank you that you surround me with your love. I lift my request before you… I thank you that you are fully aware and active in the matter I bring before you. You are perfect in knowledge, wisdom, and power. I choose to trust you to care for that which I place before you. I rest my heart in your great love and promises. Thank you, LORD. May You be glorified through it all. Amen
A Question To Consider
What promise of God do you need to allow to settle into you and lift you above the struggle, comforting you, and reassuring you of His promise that He hears you?
Matthew 28:20 – I am with you always, to the very end of the age.
Psalm 18:6 – In my distress, I called to the Lord; from his temple, he heard my voice; my cry came before him, into his ears.
1 Peter 5:7 – Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.
Philippians 4:6-7 – Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Ephesians 3:20-21 – Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever! Amen
