The Burden

So often we lose tremendous amounts of energy because we are burdened by the struggles of life.

These struggles are real and they can be exhausting.

Yet have you ever noticed the power of sharing your burden with someone who will truly listen?

How about when you get to share your burden with someone who is actually powerful enough to help ease that burden?

God Hears You

Well, this is what the Lord wants you to know about Him.

He is always available, 24-7.  He genuinely cares about your burdens, longs to ease your pain and restore your soul so that you will be strengthened and renewed to walk victoriously with Him in the midst of life’s challenges.

I love that about Him!

Recently, I was wrestling with a burden for someone I love. It was really dragging me down and I noticed that I had no energy to do the things that I needed to do.

I felt exhausted by the burden.

Then I remembered Jesus’ call to “Come to me when you are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest… for your soul.”

Pause To Be With Jesus

I yielded to His invitation, taking a few minutes to sit in a chair and focus on His presence, and found His promise to be true.

It felt so nice to close my eyes, look into the His face and share my heart.

I sensed Him leaning forward, listening intently, compassionately.

In His face, I could see the love of the LORD and the communal response of the Trinity saying, “I hear you. I am listening, and I am fully present to the request of your heart.”

It was an indescribable comfort to rest in the presence of Jesus, to share my heart and allow Him to respond with compassion, love, and truth about His power to help.

After resting with Jesus for these few minutes I felt relieved, renewed and ready to return to the work at hand. My time with Jesus empowered me to continue the journey with joy and strength.

Set Free By God’s Presence and Promise

Knowing God hears us and is powerful enough to remedy broken situations frees us up to move on in peace and wholeness.  But, we must allow Him to free us.  We must decide we will pause amidst the burdens of life to allow The Holy Spirit to penetrate our hearts and comfort us.

We must allow Him to ease the burden.

His Word Is Clear. He cares, He is listening and He is able to do exceedingly above all we ask or imagine.

When we allow His loving presence and His promises to meet us in our stories, we are comforted, healed and strengthened to rise above life’s burdens together with Christ while life remains messy.

Experience Freedom and Honor Jesus

God wants us to experience His freedom and empowerment in the midst of life’s trials.

Jesus went to great lengths to provide us the blessing of His continual presence to listen, comfort and strengthen us.

We can either continue losing strength under the burden as we try to go it alone, or we can pause to share our burdens with Jesus, allowing Him to remind us of His power to work on our behalf and to bring us the strength we need to rise above the struggles and gain the victory through the indwelling power of Christ.

We are invited to honor Jesus in our days by pausing to allow Him to comfort and empower us to handle the burdens together with him.

All it takes is remembering to turn to Jesus in the midst of life’s challenges rather than trying to go it alone.


Gracious Lord, you know my heart.  Thank you that you surround me with your love. I lift my request before you…  I thank you that you are fully aware and active in the matter I bring before you.  You are perfect in knowledge, wisdom, and power. I choose to trust you to care for that which I place before you.  I rest my heart now in your great love and promises. Thank you, LORD. May You be glorified in it all.  Amen

 A Question To Consider

When was the last time you paused in the midst of feeling burdened to be comforted and strengthened by Jesus?

If pausing is a challenge for you, what can you put into your workspace that will remind you of Jesus’ presence and the power of pausing to receive His comfort and strength?


Matthew 28:20 – I am with you always, to the very end of the age.

Matthew 11:28-30  –  “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.  For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

Psalm 18:6 – In my distress, I called to the Lord; from his temple, he heard my voice; my cry came before him, into his ears.

1 Peter 5:7 – Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.

Philippians 4:6-7 – Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Ephesians 3:20-21 – Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever! Amen
